Christians look forward to the time of the year when we celebrate two important holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. These holidays have their beginnings and roots in Christian celebrations. The word holiday actually means “holy day”; hence these events should be remembered and celebrated in a holy manner. We have strayed from that purpose over the years as we have embraced many unholy practices and worldly customs and added them to our “holy days.”

Compromises, as Christians in celebrating Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is one of our main national holidays here in the USA. A good question to ask is “Are we as Christians celebrating it the way the Lord would have us celebrate, or have we compromised with the world?” Have we lost the emphasis on thanksgiving and prayer and shifted it to a gluttonous feast of food, drink and games like those in the world have done? God wants us to enjoy family, friends and feasting, but leaving God out of the day breaks His heart. More and more the media is referring to this holiday as “turkey day” instead of Thanksgiving Day. They also eliminate the object of who we are to offer our thanks. We are just to be “thankful” we are told. Who should our thanks be directed to? The object of our thanks for our many blessings should be directed to the Lord God. It should not just be a general “thanks.”

Special Thanksgiving Prayer for our Internet Friends

“Dear Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for all You have done for us and most thankful for all of the Internet friends and supporters that pray for us. Now, Lord, I want to pray for them. My first prayer is that you would be very close to each one reading this and guide them by Your Spirt. Father, we live in perilous times and we would ask you to protect and watch over Your people. Father, keep each one reading this from harm and may they walk in your peace and overcome all fear that seems to be everywhere in this hour. Father, I pray Psalm 91 over all of us. Thank you for such wonderful promises you recorded in Your Word! May this one be able to lie down each night in perfect peace and enjoy the sweet sleep that you said we could have according to Proverbs 3:24  “When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.”

Lord, bless our readers with health for their bodies, peace in their minds and faith in their spirits so they can overcome everything the devil tries to bring their way.  Lord, thank you for making a way where there seems to be no way. In your mercy and grace, give them the peace to know that you have their answer on the way.  Thank you for meeting their every need.  Heal their bodies and those in their families that need healing as well.  Give us all the faith we need to trust You and create a clean heart in us.  As we all celebrate Thanksgiving, may we realize all the ways You have blessed us and take time to count those blessings and thank the One who is the Author of all blessings.  One of our blessings is to be able to serve You, Lord.  Give Your people the understanding of Your Word.  May the teaching gifts you have given to us, help them in their journey of faith.  We are thankful for all of those who pray for us and support us in this ministry.  Lord, may You bless each one today in a special way and use them in the Kingdom of God as we all seek to please You.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.”

Organic Gardening and Eating According to the Word of God

We are grateful for all of our friends and supporters and we thank God for each of you, as your prayers and help make it possible to continue the outreach at the BibleResources.org website.   Your gifts have made it possible to reach out in new ways such as the new Bible Answers Blog that I (Betty) write weekly.  If you have not read one yet, you can go to this link for this week’s blog and preview the other recent ones as well.   I chose to write about Organic Gardening and Eating According to the Word of God this week since it is the season for gardening.  Since so many people of God are growing gardens today, I felt led to share scriptures from the Bible that pertain to gardening by the Book.  This year we will plant our 32^nd garden and God has never failed to bless every one of them without one year of experiencing a failed crop.  He has protected our gardens from bugs, blight, wild animals and storms in spite of a number of attacks in these areas.  We praise God that He is faithful to His Word and that He cares about everything, including our gardens and the food He gave us to eat. The Empty Tomb & Resurrection:  What the Bible Says about Easter

All over the world during the Easter season, multitudes will gather in churches to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and hear about life after death. Many will suppress a yawn and attend their “yearly church service” to please their spouse. Others will attend out of curiosity; still others, because it makes them “feel good” to think about the cycle of life and new things growing out of death.

Pastors will wax eloquent before large crowds, families will don their finest clothes and the children will gather Easter eggs. Easter is a time of joy and promise as the first blades of grass begin to peek through the shroud of winter. In the pastel climate of spring, eternal life is a popular subject. Yet, how many people will really stop to think about how they can obtain eternal life? How many people will actually know the truth and how to receive it? How many will give their heart and lives to God so they may understand who Jesus Christ really was and who He still is? What does His death and resurrection actually mean to mankind?

The Empty Tomb – Life after Death

A remnant of believers will celebrate Resurrection Day, knowing the real meaning of this season, but many more will simply be going through the tradition of a religious service. Religion cannot save anyone.
